Belgrade Military Museum
Kalemegdan bb, 11000, Belgrade, Serbia
About the company:
The Belgrade Military Museum is located within the walls of the Belgrade Fortress, an architectural and historical monument located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. It is famous for its collection of weapons: you can find everything here, from copies to modern military equipment.
The collection includes Roman and Greek swords, daggers, shields and helmets, Serbian heavy knightly armor, axes, crossbows, armored gloves, as well as many similar samples of Western medieval weapons. Of course, there are more modern exhibits, such as firearms, armored vehicles and elements of soldiers' uniforms. Outside the museum you can see many tanks, howitzers and armored vehicles of various types.
The museum was founded in 1878 by decree of Prince Milan Obrenović. The museum building was destroyed during military conflicts with Austria-Hungary during the First World War, and countless priceless collections were destroyed or seized as trophies. The new exhibition opened only two decades later. All exhibits are signed in both Serbian and English.
The museum is open daily from 9.00 to 17.00, except Monday.
