Mont Fleury Botanical Garden
Victoria, Mont Fleuri, Seychellen
Description:
The Mont Fleury Botanical Garden was founded in 1901 in the Victorian suburb of Mahe. Its area covers about 6 hectares. There are 200 species of native and exotic plants, which were brought by Dupont - the founder of this paradise, who brought plants and trees from his many travels. The main objective of the garden is eco-tourism, as well as passive recreation and conservation of rare plant species.
In the magnificent garden of Mont Fleury there is a place for unique animals. Giant ancient turtles live on the ground, some of which are more than 150 years old, and high in the trees are fruit bats. The main attraction of the garden is a magnificent house with orchids of the brightest shades and colors.
The main territory of the park is occupied by palm trees, of which there are about 10 species. The most popular of these is the sea coconut palm, which has been under state protection since 1978. In the garden of Mont Fleury, anyone can plant their own coconut palm, receiving a sprouted nut for a small amount.
