Arid Island

10 km north of Praslin Island, Seychelles

Description:

Arid is a small granite island-reserve belonging to the Seychelles archipelago. Arid is located in the Indian Ocean, ten kilometers north of Praslin Island.

The island of Arid is formally considered uninhabited - only reserve employees live here on a permanent basis, and their number does not exceed ten people. The rest of the island, which is 68 hectares, is occupied by birds. There are a lot of birds here - more than all the other Seychelles combined. According to the most rough estimates of researchers, about one and a half million seabirds belonging to ten different species nest on the island of Arid. At the same time, some species of local birds belong to endemic species - they are found only here and nowhere else.

Arid Island annually hosts a huge number of eco-tourists and amateur ornithologists. The cost of a one-day excursion includes transport (boat or helicopter), guide services, as well as lunch. For all wildlife lovers, a trip to Arid will be a great entertainment and bring a lot of fun.
