Fregat Island

Seychelles, 50 km east of Mahe Island, 55.940666

Description:

The frigate is a granite island in the Seychelles archipelago. In the center of the island rises 120-meter Mount Signal. Very small in size – 2 kilometers in length and 1 kilometer in width – the island attracts magnificent beaches, rugged tropical vegetation and an incredibly diverse world of birds. About 40 species of birds nest here. Many of them are very rare – for example, blue pigeons, magic terns, Seychelles diales and frigates, which gave the name to this island.

But the main feature of the island is the treasures of pirates, which, according to legend, are buried here. Despite the fact that no one has found the treasure, periodically there are maps and things that could belong to pirates.

Another attraction of the Frigate is the huge turtles that have chosen the coast of the island. Some individuals live here up to 150 years.

The frigate is a private property, open to tourists only since 1998. That is why there is no developed tourist infrastructure, but lovers of secluded, untouched nature will like it.
