Emilia Carr House Museum

Victoria, BC

About the company:

The Emilia Carr House Museum in Victoria offers its visitors an exhibition of paintings by the most famous Canadian artist, whose work reflects the original features of the population of British Columbia.

A small wooden house off the coast of Victoria witnessed the childhood of Emilia Carr, a great Canadian artist and writer. Her works combine the traditions of French modernism and the national flavor of the Canadian North. Carr was often referred to as the “Canadian Van Gogh” because of his writing style and tragic circumstances.

In the Emilia Carr Museum you can see several rooms in which the interior of the XIX century was preserved, when the artist’s family lived in the house. In addition, the museum exhibits a large collection of paintings and graphic works by Emilia Carr.
