Ladismith City Museum

721 First Avenue, Ladysmith, Victoria, BC, Canada

About the company:

The Ladysmith Museum tells about the history of the settlement and the life of its inhabitants. The museum has an impressive collection of video films and archival documents.

Ladysmith is a small town in the province of British Columbia. It was founded in 1898 by loggers who traveled around Vancouver Island in search of a better fortune. About their lives and the efforts of the first inhabitants of the city can be found in the local museum, which opened in 1999 and has since been on the balance of the local society of history lovers.

The museum presents documents and photographs telling about the most famous inhabitants of Ladysmith and about the main events that influenced their fate. Much attention is paid to the development of the trade union movement and the unrest in the working environment that began in the city in 1913 and seriously shocked the entire Canadian society.

The museum regularly hosts historical reconstructions and costumed evenings dedicated, among other things, to the culinary traditions of British Columbia.
