Rambod - Nuwara Eliya - Adam's Peak tour. 3 days.

Description:

Day 1:

Highland Tea Plantations. On the way to the Tea Factory you will see the famous Tea Plantations of Ceylon, which are located on the Central Highlands. Tea was introduced to the island from China in 1824. Sri Lanka has the first place in the world in the export of tea and the third place in the world in the production. Sri Lanka provides about 25% of global demand. Ceylon tea is recognized as the best in the world for its unique characteristics.

Tea factory. Also, after visiting the existing Tea Factory, you will see how the process of tea production takes place. You won’t believe it, but it’s using the same technology that the British brought here a hundred years ago. And even the equipment is the same: Also in the store at the factory you can buy tea, at prices lower than in the tourist area.

Waterfalls. Also on the way you will find several stops where you can admire the waterfalls. The rivers of Sri Lanka flowing from the mountains turn into waterfalls, there are more than a hundred of them on the island. You can see some of them with your own eyes.

Ramboda is the eleventh largest waterfall in Sri Lanka. Its height is 109 meters, and the height above sea level is 945 meters. It is located on the road to the city of Nuwara Eliya, the waterfall is not visible from the main road, it is located below the Ramboda Bridge. One of the most convenient places to view the waterfall is the restaurant and observation deck at the Ramboda Falls Hotel. Overnight in this hotel will allow you to enjoy the beautiful scenery that opens from the rooms and restaurant of the hotel to the mountains and the waterfall. If there are no seats in this hotel, the stop will be at one of the Nuwara Eliya hotels.

This is where the first day of travel ends and you will have a delicious dinner at the hotel.

Day 2:

Breakfast at the Hotel.

The city of Nuwara Eliya is called Little England. The city lies in the mountains at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level - higher than other mountainous settlements of Sri Lanka. Therefore, the climate of the area is characterized by a lack of humidity and heat, which so exhausts tourists and residents of other regions. This is a special place, when visiting which it seems to a tourist that he is not in the outback of Sri Lanka, but in a small town in the UK. The second name of Nuwara Eliya, given by tourists, is "Little England". And this is not surprising, because the architecture of the city is executed in the style of George IV and everywhere you can see golf courses and gardens typical of England. Nuwara Eliya is isolated from other towns and villages due to its natural fencing. Being here, it is impossible to believe that it is only a few hours to travel to the capital of Sri Lanka.

The Hakgala Botanical Garden is one of the oldest in Southeast Asia. It is located in a unique location, on a hill more than one and a half thousand meters above sea level, a few kilometers from the city of Nuwara Eliya, and covers an area of more than 25 hectares. A feature, and a highlight of the botanical garden, is the largest not only on the island of Sri Lanka, but also in the whole region, a collection of ornamental plants. Due to the peculiarities of the location, and a special high-altitude microclimate, combining a relatively low average annual temperature and a large amount of precipitation. In the Hakgala Botanical Garden, you can see plants that could not grow anywhere else on the island, but are not found in any other botanical garden in the entire Asian region.

Train on tea plantations. Near Nuwar Eliya is the station of Nanu Oya, from there begins an hour and a half journey on a slow train through endless tea plantations, mountains and rivers. This intricate maze of tea plantations. This green carpet with a bizarre pattern, descending velvet terraces down, seems boundless. And disappearing in the swirling clouds somewhere far away. The train is open to all winds. You can shout in the open windows with the local children from the next car. The railroad here is very winding. Many tunnels, narrow stone bridges over the abyss. And down there, on the plantations, tea pickers are slowly doing their job. They can wave their hand and they will respond. The end point of the train journey is Hutton Station, where your car will be waiting for you to continue an unforgettable journey around the island.

The second day of the trip ends with a delicious dinner at the hotel.

Day 3:

Adam’s Peak is the Sacred Mountain and one of the most iconic places in Sri Lanka. Representatives of 4 famous religions make a pilgrimage here: Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam and Christianity. The height of the mountain is 2243 m above sea level.

Start the rise should be approximately at 1-2 am, takes up the rise, on average about 4-5 hours. In this part of the island at night is quite cool. At the top, it will be even colder, so you need to take warm clothes with you and wear closed and comfortable shoes.

At the first steps, and there are only about 5000 of them, there is a statue of Buddha. A few hours of travel ahead - 7 km up. Fortunately, on the way there are small cafes where you can eat hot tea with sweets. The ascent is made at night, not only because of the exhausting heat during the day, but also to see the unique dawn from the top of the mountain. The Pyramid is the shadow of Adam’s Peak falling on the island. Descent from the mountain, takes an average of 3-4 hours, and tomorrow it will be difficult to get out of beds, but to see the miracle, it is worth spending this effort!

After descending from the mountain, you will have breakfast at the hotel.

Rafting. This sport from the first minutes turns into a fascinating journey through the most beautiful places of this magical island, which will help you to fully realize the common expression “stunning beauty of nature”. The rafting takes place on an average stretch of the Kalani River, so almost all tourists and even children can take part in this wonderful enterprise. But we must not forget that fusion is, first of all, the coordinated actions of the whole team, on which the safety of each member of the group depends. Alloying requires extreme attention on instruction. The main equipment for this “adrenaline” journey is an inflatable boat or raft, which is a six-seater raft operated by local guides. Ammunition for tourists – helmets and life jackets are provided in a special center. Rafting is not included in the main program of this tour, but is an option that can be added to this trip for an additional fee.

At this, the excursion program ends and the transfer to the desired place of subsequent stay follows.

For this tour with you you need to have a passport to stay in hotels.

To climb Adam’s Peak with you, you need to have warm clothes and closed comfortable shoes. In case rafting is included in the program, you must have shorts in which you can swim and the upper part of a bathing suit for women.

Also in some hotels there is a swimming pool, if you wish, you can swim in it, so you can also take swimming accessories with you.

The guide does not climb Adam’s Peak, only escorts the participants of the excursion from the hotel to the stairs, and then the climb is made independently.
