Bambarakanda Falls

Bambarakanda Falls, Horton Plains National Park, Sri Lanka

Description:

In the Badulla Kalupahan area is the largest and most picturesque waterfall of Sri Lanka - Bambarakanda waterfall. Its height is 263 meters. You can see the waterfall while driving on the A4 highway. Bambarakanda looks very impressive against the background of the surrounding pine forest, you can see it from a long distance.

Bambarakanda Falls originates from the Kuda-Oya River, which is a continuation of the Valave River. It is best to visit Bambarakanda in March, April or May - this is when the most suitable weather conditions are created. The rest of the time it is either too windy or it rains constantly (especially between November and February), causing the paths leading to the waterfall to become too slippery.
