Museum of Railways "Evle"
About the company:
The Jøvla Railway Museum is dedicated to the history of railway transport in Sweden. The museum exhibits locomotives and wagons, which illustrates the history of railway transport in Sweden. The current collection, one of the best in the world, contains more than 100 locomotives, almost 150 wagons and several hundred pieces of other rolling stock.
The railway museum was opened in 1915 in Stockholm. The museum was allocated two platforms, which are located in the open air, and several large buildings, which include the building of the former locomotive depot and two turning circles. The total area of the museum complex is 16,000 square meters. Some museum exhibits were purchased as early as the XVIII century. A significant part of the collection, at the moment, is in storage, to see it will need to agree in advance with the staff of the museum.
In the museum you can also see not only locomotives, but also works of art, dishes and textiles. In addition to rolling stock, the museum features a variety of railway equipment and personnel uniforms, and there are models that can be purchased for your home collection or simply as a souvenir.
