Helsingborg

Denmark and Sweden in one day

Description:

We will start our tour from Copenhagen and see three of the sweetest Swedish cities - Malmo, Lund and Helsingborg, swim the famous trade route of the Sound Strait, connecting the North and Baltic Seas and return back on the Danish coast, through the city of Helsingor, admiring the proudly towering Kronborg Castle, immortalized in Shakespeare's Hamlet.

At the beginning of our journey we will cross the Jeresund crossing, which connects Danish Copenhagen and Swedish Malmo.

The length of the crossing is 16 km: first a 4 km tunnel running along the very bottom of the Sound Strait, which then goes to the surface of the bulk island of Peberholm and turns into a cable-stayed 8 km bridge. This crossing, built in 2000, connects not just two cities, but continental Europe and the Scandinavian Peninsula. Traveling on this bridge is an adventure in itself!

And here we are in the magnificent province of Skåne, located in the south of Sweden, all roads which lead to Malmo, an unusually pleasant city with numerous cultural attractions of the Middle Ages. Sweet, sun-filled atmospheric city with a fan of attractions that do not tire and look in one breath.

We will make a stop in Lernaken, the place where the bridge begins and an extraordinary panorama of Øresund opens and the main symbol of the city - The Turning Torso, the skyscraper of Santiago Calatrava (yes, that same), we will not miss the scouring fish-smoking shop, the family motto of which is "All that is under water, we can get" and the best pastry city, where everything is done manually for 150 years.

Our next stop is the most beautiful, sunny, quiet and cozy, cultural university town called Lund, the oldest city in Sweden after Sigtuna, the city played a huge importance in the history of Scandinavia even before the construction of the cathedral and was founded in 990. The kings of Denmark several times declared Lund the residence of the Danish bishops and the capital of the Danish kingdom.

Lund Cathedral is preserved in broad outline as it was built in the early 12th century - the ancient cathedral, which is the historical, scientific and cultural center of Lund - stands in the middle of the modern city, radiating peace and tranquility. History is transformed from the category of time into the category of space: it is as if you are entering it.
