Helsinborg Town Hall
Stortorget 3, 252 20 Helsingborg, Sweden
Description:
One of the main attractions of Helsingborg is the Town Hall building, the project of which was designed in 1887 by the famous architect Alfred Helestrom. The building once held meetings of the municipal council, and now there are several conference rooms and management offices.
In 1965, a chapel was added to the town hall building, where marriages were registered. Today on its top there is a beautiful observation deck, from where the city panorama opens.
The town hall building has four floors, it is built in neo-Gothic style, as evidenced by its beautiful island towers and 65-meter bell tower. The roof of the structure is lined with a slate painted in copper color. The architecture of the Town Hall also contains Baroque elements – a huge staircase leading from the central entrance to the main square.
Two memorial stones erected by Danes and Norwegians in memory of refugees hiding here during World War II.
