Malmö

Copenhagen to Malmo

Description:

20 kilometers from the Danish capital - Copenhagen, is the third largest city in Sweden - Mälmo.

Both cities are located on opposite banks of the Oresund Strait. After the construction of the bridge-tunnel journey from the Danish coast to the Swedish takes less than half an hour.

A grandiose engineering structure connects Denmark and Sweden through the island of Amager. The bridge was opened on 1 July 2000 by Queen Margaret II of Denmark and King Carl Gustav XVI of Sweden. The bridge consists of a 4-kilometer tunnel, an artificial island of the same length and an 8-kilometer bridge. You can learn more about the construction, interesting facts and difficulties associated with the construction of the Oresund crossing during the excursion “Copenhagen – Malmo”.

During the trip, we get acquainted with the history and relations of neighboring states, with modern and ancient districts of Mälmo, it is possible to take pictures against the background of the famous bridge and follow the trails of the eponymous series “Broen”.

The minimum program takes note. 4-5 hours, the route passes through the modern area on the coast of Copenhagen, the Oresund Bridge and modern areas of Malmo. We will see the most unusual European skyscraper Turning Torso (Twisted Torso), multifunctional "Malma Arena" and shopping center "Imporia" - an example of unusual modern architecture.

From the beach promenade Vastra Hamnen offers magnificent views of the bridge, the Oresund Strait and even the opposite Danish coast.

After exploring the modern areas, we plan to stop in the historical center of Mälmo, which until the 17th century was part of Denmark and received the status of a city in the 13th century.

Here medieval Sweden and fechtfarc facades perfectly harmonize with modern monuments, galleries and shops. On miniature squares and narrow streets there are many cozy cafes, and in ancient courtyards there are shops with designer souvenirs.

The tour program can be adjusted, the cost depends on the duration, the number of people in the group and transport.

You may be interested in visiting museums, parks, restaurants or shopping (in Sweden it is cheaper).
