Malmo City Library, Kung Oscars vä g 11, 211 33 Malmo, Sweden
Description:
The Malmo City Library, located in the city of Malmo in southern Sweden, is the largest library in the country. In addition to a large selection of books, the library collection includes more than 40 thousand DVDs and CDs. Following the trends of scientific progress, this library became the first in Sweden where you can rent media with video games.
The Malmo City Library was opened in December 1905. At that time, the collection of books and periodicals was more than modest in comparison with the current one - only 3100 copies. Initially, the library was located in the Tunnel Hotel, but in 1946 it moved to a new impressive building called the Castle, which was built for the National Museum of Malmo in an architectural style gravitating to the late Renaissance.
The Malmo City Library currently occupies three buildings. In addition to the Palace, the library includes the Bright Hall, which received its name due to the fact that most of its walls are made of transparent glass panels, as well as the Cylinder - there are the main entrance, reception and cafe.
