Malmo Cathedral Mosque

Vä stra Skrä vlinge kyrkovä g 1, 212 37 Malmo, Sweden

Description:

The Malmo Cathedral Mosque is located in the outskirts of the city of Malmo in southern Sweden. This is one of the most significant Muslim religious buildings in the country, which was built in Malmo not by chance - this city is one of the centers of Muslims in Sweden.

Malmo Mosque was officially opened in 1984, becoming the third mosque in Scandinavia. The Islamic Center, which communicates with the mosque, houses a madrasah school where young Muslims learn the teachings of the Koran. Nearly 55,000 Muslims in the region visit this cathedral mosque to tell Allah about their thoughts, joys and sins, as well as ask him for help and support in difficult times.

Due to the rather specific relationship between Muslims and Orthodox Europeans, this mosque, like many other Islamic buildings in Scandinavia, has been repeatedly attacked and set on fire. The most serious was the arson attack in 2003, which almost completely destroyed the mosque and the Islamic Center and took more than a year to rebuild. Currently, the Malmo Cathedral Mosque is open for visits and religious events.
