Stockholm

The brilliance and glamour of Nobel banquets

Description:

Let's say we're invited to a Nobel banquet and we go to the town hall. The Town Hall is not only a symbol of Stockholm, but also a symbol of Sweden, the three crowns crown the dome of this building, which literally hovers over Stockholm. The town hall was built in the style of “national romanticism” and is located on the island of Kungsholmen. The building is one of the most beautiful examples of modern European architecture. It was designed by Ragnar Estberg and was built in 1923. The building itself is the last echo of the construction of the good old days, when the worker, engineer and architect worked shoulder to shoulder. You will visit the Blue Hall, where the Nobel banquet takes place, you will see the world's largest hall of golden mosaics, it is called the Golden Hall. The walls of this hall are decorated with 18 million pieces of mosaic. The royal family has traditionally been the honorary guests of this private Nobel Foundation, but the first toast, also traditionally, is raised for the king. The second is for the founder of the Alfred Nobel Prize. 1,360 guests are invited to the gala dinner, and it lasts three and a half hours. Between meal changes, guests will be entertained with musical and acrobatic numbers.

Of course, the Town Hall is one of the most famous sights of Stockholm. Many television stations around the world broadcast live the Nobel Banquet, Sweden’s main banquet.
