Gripsholm
Description:
One of the most famous castles of Sweden Gripsholm, founded in the XIV century, surprises and fascinates literally from the first minutes. Barely stepping on the lift bridge, visitors immediately get into the atmosphere of the royal court, full of mysteries and metamorphosis. Walking from hall to hall, you seem to travel through time, gradually returning from the depths of centuries to today. It is impossible to feel lonely here, because in each room you are greeted by noble people, whose portraits adorn almost all the walls of the palace. The Gripsholm Portrait Gallery is the largest in the world and has over 1,400 portraits.
Rising under the very dome, you find yourself in the theater, organized in the XVIII century by the magnificent Gustav III. I will not say anything about the theatre. To feel it, you have to be in it. This is something completely extraordinary.
Gripsholm would not have been Gripsholm had it not been for the nature around him. Infinite forests and gardens, Lake Melaren, approaching almost the walls, a riot of colors on flowerbeds. All this gives the palace even more splendor and grandeur.
The town of Mariefred is also very cute. There you can walk through the cozy streets, visit the ruins of an old church, go to the railway museum or just enjoy coffee in a cozy cafe.
Each visit to Gripsholm is a special story, giving a sea of impressions and positive emotions.
