Sculptural masterpieces of Milles Gardens
Description:
Do you want to diversify your walks around Stockholm with new experiences, to see what is not included in the “standard set” of acquaintance with the Swedish capital? Then I am happy to invite you on a trip to Lidinge Island in Milles Park!
Millesgorden is a garden house on a cliff overlooking the lake, owned by sculptor Carl Milles - a romantic, sought-after artist and, apparently, a happy man. He acquired this piece of land on the island of Liding in the early twentieth century, when it was still a suburb of Stockholm. Milles Garden three tiers-terraces descends to the water, and according to the apt definition of connoisseurs of harmony "is a successful symbiosis of stone, bronze and shady alleys." Indeed, in the open-air museum, sculptural masterpieces are perfectly inscribed in the landscape. The amazing ability of Carl Milles to create sculptures from small formats to giant forms in graceful and graceful even after many years is admirable and surprising. Subtle play with the center of gravity of the figures conveys the dynamics of images and creates a feeling of extraordinary lightness - the floating of figures in the air.
The sculpture garden is planned so that you can, slowly walking along the alleys, return to the works already seen and admire the works of the Master from a new, unexpected angle, in sunlight and in a shaded form.
Only a genius could create such a thing.
This garden is the brainchild of Milles. Even during his 20-year stay in the United States, he did not forget about the park and gave orders for its development and planning.
In 1936, Milles gave Millesgarden to the people of Sweden.
Milles masterpieces are known in many countries of the world. He is famous for his flying figures, barely touching the ground. In Moscow, for example, in front of the Center for International Trade stands Hermes, made by Milles.
If you want to take a short break from the hustle and bustle and immerse yourself in the world of nature, sculpture, philosophy and a sense of harmony - then we are on the way!
