Stockholm

Living green - Stockholm's modern Hammarby district

Description:

Until recently, this area of Stockholm was an old industrial zone, neglected and heavily polluted. Now here lies the most modern in all of Sweden, the Hammarby Sjostad microdistrict.
Construction was carried out here taking into account the most advanced and environmentally friendly technologies. And to get acquainted with these technologies in the housing construction of megacities, people come here from all over the world. It all started in the early '90s, when all the political parties represented on the City Council agreed to make the area a model of sustainable urban development. By 2018, more than 20,000 residents will live here, and the housing stock will be approximately 11,000 apartments.

Green is the word for Hammarby Shestad. Behind the lush greenery of this coastal residential area of Stockholm lurks a wealth of innovative sustainable solutions. Hammarby’s urban model has become a tool for the environmental development of cities around the world. It is better to see 1 time than to hear 100 times. I invite you to visit the “green city” and get acquainted with the modern Swedish way of life.
