St. Clara Church
Description:
St. Clara Church is located in the heart of Stockholm, in the lower Normalm area. The church on this site was founded in 1280.
Of course, like most buildings with such a solid age, the church was repeatedly demolished and rebuilt. The original church building was demolished in 1527 and a new one was built in 1572 during the reign of Johan III.
Near the church there is a cemetery where famous Swedish poets are buried, including the tomb of Karl Michael Bellman. At the entrance to the cemetery there is a monument in honor of the poet Niels Ferlin, who was a representative of the “Bohema Clara”.
Now the Church of St. Clara is the best preserved ancient building in this part of the city, which is surrounded by new buildings.
