No Violence Monument

Sergelgatan, Stockholm, Sweden

Description:

No violence - a world-famous monument depicting a massive revolver whose barrel is tied with a knot. There are sixteen such sculptures in the world, but the most famous is located in the center of Stockholm, Sweden.

This unusual monument was designed by Swedish sculptor Carl Fredrik Reutersworth, who was horrified by the violent deaths of famous people around the world - John Lennon, Bob Crane and many others. The first such monument was erected in Sweden in 1985, after which copies of the sculpture appeared in the United States, Luxembourg, Germany, France and many other countries.

No Violence is a huge bronze replica of a Colt Piton revolver, whose muzzle is knotted and clearly incapable of firing. The sculpture is very detailed, and its moral message is clear and without further explanation. In 1993, the sculpture “No to violence” became the official symbol of the charitable organization of the same name, promoting social change and the fight against violence.
