Stourtoryet Square
Description:
The main attractions of the city of Stockholm, undoubtedly belongs to Stourtoryet Square. In the old days, witches were burned here. The square is famous for such an event as the Stockholm Bloodbath, arranged for nobles accused of heresy in 1520 by order of King Christian II of Denmark, 82 people were executed at once on the square.
On the square stands a fountain, which was installed in the 18th century by Eric Palmstedt.
Now there are cozy cafes and restaurants around the square and nothing reminds of such a bloodthirsty place.
