Skansen - open-air ethnographic museum

Skansen, Djurgå rdsslä tten 49-51, 115 21 Stockholm, Sweden

About the company:

The museum was founded on October 11, 1891 by Arthur Hazelius. In this unique place you can see houses and buildings from different parts of Sweden, as well as whole complexes of buildings, for example, a forge, a glassblower workshop or a bakery. Today in Skansen there are more than 150 houses and estates of the XVIII - XX centuries, where the appropriate environment is preserved, thanks to which you can see how people of different social backgrounds lived in different parts of Sweden at that time.

Housekeepers are dressed in costumes of the corresponding era. They can guide visitors through the rooms and tell them what is in them. Also in Skansen there is a menagerie in which live wild and domestic animals of Sweden. Near the entrance to Skansen is the Biological Museum belonging to the complex, inside which is the Skansen Aquarium.
