Stockholm subway
Description:
The Stockholm metro in Sweden differs from the others, mainly by its two branches, which remain in their original form. Somewhere there are just bare rocks, somewhere busts, sculptures, somewhere mosaics. The result is very unusual. Kungstradgorden is a common station for two branches, the entrance to it is right in the city center.
The Stockholm metro is the only one in Sweden and was built in 1941, originally used for high-speed trams. Now the metro consists of three lines (red, green and blue), has 100 stations. Of these, 47 are underground and 53 are ground-based. The branches are left-handed. The subway is quiet, so you can talk.
The most important thing about the Stockholm metro is its design. Each line is decorated in its own way. These are Greek sculptures, fabulous grottoes, classical architecture. Also pop art, mosaic, video installation and fountains with streams.
Exhibitions are regularly held in the subway. Hundreds of artists carry their works to underground stations. All three metro lines converge at T-centralen station, where the central bus station and train station are located. You can go anywhere in Sweden from here.
