Uddewall Bridge
Uddevalla Bridge, Swedish municipality of Uddevalla, Sweden
Description:
The Uddevalla Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge that runs over the Sunninge River near the town of Uddevalla in Bohuslen province on the west coast of Sweden. The bridge was built to redirect the European Route E6 beyond Uddevalla to reduce traffic load in the city.
The bridge was built between 1996 and 2000 and officially opened to traffic on May 20, 2000. Originally, the E6 route ran through the city of Uddevalla. But in connection with the increase in demand for transportation and associated traffic jams on the roads, the city authorities decided to build a new bridge, which eventually justified itself - the transport load was correctly redistributed.
The total length of the bridge is 1712 meters, and the largest span is 414 meters. The bridge rises 50 meters above the river. There are two car lanes in each direction. Steel cables that hold the structure of reinforced concrete, ensure the stability of the bridge. In addition to its transport significance, the bridge has another undeniable advantage - a stunningly beautiful view that opens to the river and the surrounding area.
