Kolbak Bridge

Kolb & Auml ck Bridge, Umeå, Sweden

Description:

Kolbak Bridge crosses the Ume River in the eastern part of Umeå, a city in northern Sweden. The bridge connects the island of On, located on the river with the mainland.

Kolbak Bridge was built in a traditionally short time for Sweden: construction began in 1998, and the official opening took place in 2001. Architectural design was developed by Inger Berglund. The length of this cable-stayed bridge is 700 meters, and the width is 17 meters. Of course, the Kolbak Bridge is not one of the largest buildings in the country, but against the backdrop of a wonderful natural landscape it looks so spectacular that it attracts the attention of tourists who with equal pleasure photograph both the bridge itself and the view opening from it.
