Wildenstein Castle
Switzerland, canton of Basel Land, Bubensdorf.
Description:
Bubendorf is considered the only well-preserved. Wildenstein Castle is located south of Bubendorf, the base of the fortress is associated with Heinrich Eptingen, who took the name "Eptingen of Wildenstein". The castle withstood an assault in 1334 and survived the Basel earthquake of 1356, and it is unknown how badly the structures were damaged during these events. The possession changed hands in 1380 as a result of a trade deal, followed by changes due to war and other historical developments.
In the XX century, in 1995, Wildenstein Castle was acquired by the canton of Basel Land, and the mysterious walls of knightly possessions began to serve as stage decorations for various cultural events. The ancient fortress also inspired artists: for example, we can see its image in the works of the Swiss master of engraving David Herliberger, who lived in the XVIII century.
