Fountain of Justice
Gerechtigkeitsgasse 39, 3011 Bern, Switzerland
Description:
The Fountain of Justice, also known as the Fountain of Justice, is one of the famous 16th-century Bern fountains. It is located in the center of the main square of Römerberg.
The fountain is an octagonal, decorated with flowers swimming pool, in the center of which is a pillar with a statue of a blindfolded woman, personifying Justice.
She holds a sword in her right hand and a scale in her left. At her feet are four figures symbolizing the various forms of government: the pope, the judge, the emperor and the sultan.
It was originally a sculpture created by Laurent Perrowd between 1545 and 1547, which was replaced by a copy in 1997 and the original sent to the Museum of Art and History.
