An interesting fact in the history of the street is that Albert Einstein himself once lived in the house number 49.
Kramgasse Street is located in the heart of Bern and is considered the most beautiful in the city. Most of the buildings built here date back to the XVIII century and are made in two styles: Baroque and Late Gothic. Most houses have decorations in the form of arcades and emblems with symbols of craft unions. In the second house on this street is a pharmacy, which opened in 1571.
One of the main decorations of Kramgass are fountains, one of which is dedicated to Duke Berchtold V – the founder of Bern. Through the grate under the fountains you can see a small stream, it was he in the Middle Ages was the only source of water in the city.
