Amzoldingen Castle
Switzerland, canton of Bern, Amsoldingen.
Description:
Amzoldingen Castle is one of the attractions of Amzoldingen, the municipality of Thun County, the canton of Bern, Switzerland. The exact time of construction of the castle is unknown, but historians say that under Rudolf II, Duke, and later King of Upper Burgundy, who lived in the X century, the building in which the monastery was established, has already been mentioned. In 1484 the monastery was abolished and the castle was sold.
Over the next five centuries, the owners of Amsoldingen changed, and until now, the territory of the castle is private property. The most recent and brightest mistress of the palace-fortress made of white stone was the extraordinary Elizabeth de Meron. Along with several houses in Bern, she inherited her father's estate - the castle of Amzoldingen, although the main place of residence and salon receptions rich and extravagant lady chose another castle - Ryumligen.
