Gümligen Castle

Switzerland, Muri bei Bern, Dorfstrasse 107

Description:

Gyumligen Castle is located in the village of the same name within the city of Muri-Bern, owned by the Swiss municipality of Bern. The aristocratic mansion was built between 1736 and 1739 under the direction of the architect Albrecht Sturler, who erected several quality houses of the XVIII century. The owner was unable to bear the costs during construction and was forced to sell the house.

During World War II in 1939-1941, the headquarters of Swiss General Henri Guissan was located here.

The castle is privately owned, so access to it is limited, the building and the surrounding park are in excellent condition.
