Könitz Castle

Switzerland, Koniz, Muhlernstrasse 9

Description:

Könitz Castle is located in the city of the same name belonging to the Swiss province of Bern. The castle is protected as a Swiss national heritage site. It was erected at the beginning of the XI century as an Augustinian monastery, at that time it was only one building. Over time, several interconnected buildings were completed, including a clock tower-spire. The main building on its facade is decorated with wooden beams, which is characteristic of German architecture. At the beginning of the XVII century, the castle was reconstructed, giving it Gothic features. In 1729, Kenitz became part of the municipality.
