New Belp Castle

Switzerland, canton Bern, Belp.

Description:

New Belp Castle is rather an aristocratic grand palace that arose on the site of a ruined medieval castle. New Belp is located in the Swiss commune of Belp, Canton Bern. The building was erected in the middle of the XVIII century, in a magnificent stylistic manner of the reign of Louis XV. The castle was built by the Wattenville family. Wattenvili, a native of Vatenville, is known in Bern and Thun from the thirteenth century as one of the aristocratic and influential families. They owned the castle until the beginning of the XIX century, and in 1811 it changed its owner - the New Belp was bought by Ludwig Zerleder, a representative of the company Belper Zerlederstok. Until now, New Belper Castle is privately owned.
