Old Herzensee Castle

Description:
Old Herzensee Castle is located in the village of the same name belonging to the municipality of Bern. It was built in 1520 in the late Gothic style at the foot of Mount Festi, when its predecessor, standing on top of the mountain, burned to the ground, which happened two years before the completion of construction. The new castle consists of several one- and two-storey buildings with a tent roof connected to each other. There is a small park around.
During its history, the castle has changed many owners, the most famous of the last owners was the Bernese art collector. Old Herzensee remains privately owned to this day.
