Zamokistein Castle

Switzerland, canton of Bern, Burgistine.

Description:

Schloss Burgistein Castle is located in the municipality of Burgstein Canton of Bern, Switzerland. The castle belongs to the national heritage of Switzerland. The first fortification was built by the founder of the Burgistine family Baron Thun. In 1339 the fortress was captured by the troops of Bern and destroyed at the Battle of Laupen. Subsequently, the castle was restored, and in 1397 passed from the extinct genus Burgistein to Werner Münzer. Almost a hundred years later, in 1493, the castle was acquired by the Wattenville family. In the XVIII century, representatives of the Wattenville family intermarried with the Graffenrids, giving their daughter to marry Emmanuel Greffenrid, and the castle became the property of the aristocratic baron family von Graffenrid. The palace-castle, which we see in Burgistine today, was built in the XVI century.
