The walking routes in Zurich are of course diverse. Here is one of them: we walk from Zurich Central Station along the elegant Bahnhofstrasse, known for its numerous shops and boutiques: furs, watches, jewelry and products of famous designers for every taste. We stop near the monument to Pestalozzi and go to Parade Square, where there are two main banks in Switzerland - UBS and Credit Suisse. On this square is also the oldest confectionery Sprungli and the restaurant of national cuisine Arsenal.
From the Parade Square, we go to the Fraumunster Church, which once belonged to one of the most popular convents. Incredibly beautiful stained glass windows for her were created in 1970 by Marc Chagall. Next, we visit the main city cathedral - the temple of Grossmünster - built in the XII century. We climb to the observation deck located in one of the towers of the cathedral. ....exciting sight.
Then we go to the old part of the city, which has preserved buildings leading back to the Middle Ages. This is the Niederdorf quarter - a historical center with a pedestrian zone, picturesque alleys, built up with narrow houses in the Gothic style, in which bakery, pastry and antique shops are located. Then, along Mirror Street, we go up to Lenin’s house – “The Russian Revolution was preparing in Switzerland.”
Returning to the left bank of Limmat, we will see the area of the wine market. On the square there is an elegant hotel "U stork". I will tell you a touching legend about storks who once settled on the roof of this house. Next, we go up the street of Termengasse on a special lattice road, under us - excavations of Roman thermals! Then we come to St. Peter’s Cathedral, towering on a small hill, in 1538 it has the largest clock in Europe with a dial with a diameter of 8.7 m. If we are lucky, we will hear the sounds of an ancient organ. Further winding streets will lead us to Lip Hill, from where you can see: the Limmat River, the University of Zurich and the Higher Technical School, a symbol of Protestantism - the Grossmunster Church and the Church of Love for Women.
If you wish, we will visit the museums of Zurich. The most famous of them are the Swiss National Museum, the Kunsthaus, the Museum of Art Crafts, the Museum of Dolls, the Museum of Coffee. In the evening you can visit the art gallery or go to the famous opera house.
