Lugano is a major financial center of Switzerland. The old town of Lugano is a wide pedestrian area with typical Italian buildings. In the Old Town on Cathedral Square are the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, built in the style of the Lombard Renaissance, the Baroque temple of St. Anthony, the Villa of Castagnola with collections of European painting.
The city of Lugano became a famous trade center in the XI century, so to this day there are buildings built in the medieval spirit in the Italian style, as the town lies near the border with Italy.
The old town is very reminiscent of Italian streets with typical Italian cafes, where you can enjoy communication with open and friendly people, as well as try local cuisine to Italian music.
