Switzerland, Lucerne, Old Town, Swan Square
Description:
Inspection of the fountain "Guardians" on the Wine Square (aka - the Wine Market Square) - part of most excursions to Lucerne. From 1494 to 1616, famous Easter plays telling about the Passion of Christ were held on this square.
The fountain was built in 1481 by Caspar Lutz. This is an ancient hydraulic structure in the late Gothic style.
The fountain "Guardians" is a column decorated with figures of warriors and dragons. In fact, it is a copy - the original is installed in the courtyard of the Knight's Palace on the Bahnhofstrasse.
