Lucerne

The Ice Garden

Denkmalstrasse, 4, Lucerne, Switzerland

Description:

Visitors to this museum, created by nature itself, will be able to see the stages of the historical development of the earth from the era of the last glaciation to the Mesozoic era, when the warm sea splashed here and palm trees grew. Ice caves are a geological phenomenon, allowing you to see the imprints of fossilized palm leaves and fossil shells.

There is a panorama representing models of the Alpine mountains and a model of the city of 1792. Many tourists enjoy visiting the Mirror Maze, the opening of which was timed to coincide with the holding of the national exhibition of Switzerland in Geneva in 1896.

The labyrinth consists of 90 mirrors, some of which are curves. Even great interest in this natural science museum is caused by ancient maps, one of which is the oldest in the world relief (convex) map of the 18th century.
