Capelbrücke Bridge
Description:
Capelbrücke Bridge is the most legendary and ancient European bridge, which is located near the city of Lucerne near the confluence of the Reuss River into Lake Firvaldstet. It is a wooden structure covered with a gable roof. Translated from German, Kapelbrücke means “chapel on the bridge” or “chapel bridge”.
It was built in 1333, but it is not as old as it may seem. In 1993, the bridge was almost completely destroyed by fire, after which it was subjected to major restoration.
Before the eyes of the tourist, as he crosses the entire 200-meter length of Kapelbrücke, about 120 triangular numbered paintings appear, dating from the beginning of 1500. Among them you can see the works of the holy intercessors of Lucerne - St. Leodegar and St. Mauritus.
Nowadays, the bridge has become a favorite place for photographers who are constantly looking for something new, unparalleled, to put it on a calendar, poster or tourist avenue. Also, small theatrical scenes are constantly played here, and street musicians play.
