Jesuit Cathedral
Bahnhofstrasse 11A, 6003 Luzern, Switzerland
Description:
The Jesuit Cathedral is Switzerland’s first Baroque cathedral. This church looks luxurious both outside and inside.
The interior of the cathedral was created mainly at the end of the XVII century. The central nave and choirs here represent a single space to which the side rooms adjoin. The church is illuminated with the help of numerous windows that let light into the cathedral from top to bottom, which creates a special atmosphere here. The altar of the church is decorated with red marble. In the cathedral there is the chapel of St. Claus, where the statue of the Saint is located and his vestments are stored.
The Jesuit Church is still open and accessible to the public today. Due to its excellent acoustics during big holidays, the cathedral is used as a concert hall.
