The Swiss Riviera
Description:
A tour of the Swiss Riviera is an interesting and exciting journey through elite resorts located along the coast of the amazingly clean and transparent Lake Geneva, with a visit to the tasting hall (+1 hour) in the winemaking district of Lavo.
The picturesque district of Lavo, where an incredible number of vineyards of elite varieties grows. Unique wines are made from the grapes growing here. We can go to Winorama, where we will get acquainted with the life of winemakers and the opportunity to purchase several bottles for our collection.
From Lavo we will go to the village of Vevey, which is famous for an unusual monument depicting a fork stuck in the lake, installed by the company Nestlé, which opened its head office here, and the only food museum in the world. Then we will walk along the embankment of Vevey, where Charlie Chaplin, who spent the last 30 years of his life here, and N.V. Gogol, who often came here to improve his health, are immortalized in the form of monuments.
The next point of our tour will be the center of the Swiss Riviera, Montreux. Here we will walk along its embankment with five-star hotels, casinos, nightclubs and expensive restaurants, look at the monument to Freddie Mercury and the hotel in which our compatriot V.V. Nabokov lived for many years.
After exploring all the sights of Montreux, we will go to the famous Chillon Castle, which rises above the lake. Once, many centuries ago, it was an observational fort, then became the property of the Earl of Savoy and turned into a gloomy prison, which was sung in Lord Byron's poem "The Prisoner of Chillon." We will visit its halls, which preserved stucco, frescoes and bas-reliefs of the Middle Ages, go down to the gloomy casemates in which prisoners were kept, inspect the torture chamber and dungeons.
The city of Lausanne - with its picturesque embankment of Usi, the old city, where medieval streets are still preserved in their original form. We will walk through Rippon Square, explore the Gothic-style Lausanne Cathedral, the Bishop’s Palace and Count Ryumin’s Palace, which was formerly a local university.
With this, our tour of the paradise, called the Swiss Riviera, will be completed. Tired, but full of impressions from the day spent, we will go back, taking with us wonderful photos, commemorative magnets, collectible wine and the aromas of blooming on the embankments of these resort towns of magnolias and almond trees.
