In a 40-minute drive from Montreux, in the ancient town of St. Maurice, with the eponymous monastery of the 15th century, in the inner part of the Rhone Valley, near the single Alpine Mountains, healing thermal springs are beaten, with a temperature of up to 62 C (water sulfate sodium-chloride, with lithium and fluorides). This is the hottest water in Switzerland.

The development of Lavey-les-Bains began on February 27, 1831, when a local fisherman felt the presence of hot water as he made his way down the Rhône River, behind his net.
