Schaffhausen

The grandeur of the Rhine Falls and the medieval Schaffhausen and Stein am Rhine.

Description:

Our tour will begin with a visit to the Rhine Falls - the largest and most famous in Europe. You can enjoy the grandeur of this natural monument from two observation decks: they are located both on the northern (from Neuhausen) and on the southern (from Laufen Castle) bank of the Rhine. Be sure to take a water trip by boat to the cliff in the center of the Rhine Falls, to the top of which leads a hiking trail. To visit the heart of the roaring masses of water is an incomparable sensation! Boats depart from the pier on the north bank of the Rhine, the cost of the adventure is about 7 CHF, departure every 10 minutes.

Then our route will pass through the streets of the ancient Swiss town of Schaffhausen.

Beautiful medieval city with ancient streets and old houses, over which stands the castle-fortress Murot with a round majestic tower. Once upon a time, merchants built warehouses there, as the rapids on the Rhine, which are only 3 km from the city, created insurmountable obstacles for ships carrying goods. In 1045 Schaffhausen was born.

Then we head to a small medieval town on the Rhine next to Lake Stein am Rhine of Constance, one of the most picturesque in Switzerland.

Medieval architecture of half-timbered buildings with unchanged tiled roofs, wooden balconies, bay windows, elegant painting of facades, lush flowering plants will make our tour pleasant and informative. The Benedictine Monastery of St. George is the main attraction of the city. For more than 1000 years it has been pleasing the eye with a strict harmony of lines.
