Rhinefall

Rhine Falls, Neuhausen am Rainfall, Switzerland

Description:

Rhine Falls - the largest waterfall in Europe in terms of the amount of water falling, is one of the main attractions of Switzerland. It is located in the Swiss canton of Schaffhausen, next to it is the town of Neuhausen am Rainfall. The height of the waterfall is about 23 meters, the width is 150 meters.

The waterfall began to form about 500,000 years ago, during the Ice Age. It acquired its present appearance 14-17 thousand years ago. You can admire this magnificent and powerful waterfall from specially arranged observation decks-terraces. You can feel the full force and power of the downward streams of water from the observation deck located on the top of the rock in the center of the waterfall.

The waterfall looks especially impressive in summer, when the volume of falling water is about 600 liters per second, as well as in late spring, during the melting of snow. On sunny days, regardless of the time of year, you can watch a stunning rainbow over the waterfall.
