A trip to the Alps from Zurich or Lucerne. The Alps!

Description:

If you come to Switzerland, you should definitely visit the Alps. Moreover, the mountains are, in fact, the largest attraction in Switzerland and occupy 61% of the entire territory of the country.

And they're very close. Just an hour by car from Zurich, Lucerne or Bern we will find ourselves at the foot of one of the mountains. Get on the lift and we're on top of the mountain. At your choice, I suggest climbing one of the nearby mountains:

1) Mount Riga. Despite the fact that this mountain is not very high (only 1800 m above the sea) is considered the queen of the mountains because of the stunning view that opens from the top. Riga Mountain has the appearance of a three-sided pyramid and at the foot of each slope there is a lake. I usually bring tourists to one of the slopes, and they climb the funicular to the top. Well, you can go down another slope. During this time, I travel around the mountain and pick you up on the other side of the mountain. This trip is very well combined with excursions in Zurich or Lucerne, because from these cities to the foot of the mountain is less than an hour by car. A description of this trip can be found on my website.

(2) Mount Pilatus (height 2128 m). It is believed that Pontius Pilate himself is buried on its top. According to one version, the name of the mountain comes from here. Very well combined with a tour of Lucerne, because from the city center to the lifts is literally 20 minutes drive. From Zurich to Mount Pilatus can be reached in an hour. As well as on Mount Riga, tourists can climb one slope on the funicular, and go down another slope by train. The photos attached a plan to climb the mountain.

(3) Mount Fronalstock (height 1922 m). It is an hour's drive from Zurich. From Lucerne to the foot of the mountain can be reached in 40 minutes. So it is perfectly combined with excursions in Zurich and Lucerne. From the top of the mountain there is just a magnificent view of the Lake of the Four Forest Lands (Vierwaldstättersee). There is a restaurant at the top where you can eat. If we go to this mountain in winter, then from the top of the mountain you can go down on a sled. The length of the sledging descent: as much as 2 (two) km. Imagine a grandiose panoramic view, opening from the observation deck, you can look at the photos.

(4) Mount Stansenhorn (altitude 1900 m). 20 minutes from Lucerne or 50 minutes from Zurich. You can also combine with tours of Zurich or Lucerne. First, climbing on an exotic retro wagon of the sample of 1898, then climbing the mountain is carried out on a rather unusual two-storey funicular. The top floor without a roof, i.e. it is a convertible funicular. The only one in the world! While climbing, being on the top floor comes the feeling of free flight in absolute mountain silence. Very unusual and amazing feeling! In addition, there is a rotating panoramic restaurant on the observation deck.

(5) Mount Titlis (3028 metres). Even in summer there is snow on the top of this mountain. You need to bring something warm with you. From Lucerne to the foot of the mountain travel time is 40 minutes, from Zurich: 1 hour 15 minutes. So the climb to this mountain is also very successfully combined with a tour of Zurich and Lucerne. The funicular rotates around its axis during the ascent, which is very unusual. And at the top of the mountain, you can walk along the highest 100-meter suspension bridge and enter the glacier, where a corridor of 150 meters is cut down in a 20-meter thickness of ice.

(6) Mount Santis (elevation 2502 metres). If we go to the east of the country to the thermal resort of Bad Ragac or you want to see the Principality of Liechtenstein, you can also climb Mount Santis. It is so well located that in good weather from its height you can see in addition to Switzerland, Germany, Austria and France. In the warm season at the foot of the mountain you can visit the cheese factory, where you will get acquainted with the production of local cheese. A full description of this trip can be found on my website.

To climb the options I have proposed, you do not need to have special training and equipment. Everything is very civilized everywhere: funiculars, walking paths, cafes and places for recreation. The main thing is not to lose a good mood and desire to conquer the Alps.
