13th Century Castle Museum
The history of this magnificent castle began when in 1240 the Czech Dowager Queen Constance ordered in his possessions to build a castle, which became known in Hungary as Voroskut, and in Germany – Rottenstein. Later, the castle was conquered, given, sold and even once was a dowry. After the king, the castle was owned by many famous families. Among them were Matus Trenchansky, nobles from St. Jura and Pezinka and the Turzov family. The last owner of the castle was Mikulas Palfi and his wife Maria Magdalena. Palfi was the richest and most noble family in Slovakia.
Interiors of many castles
Since the beginning of the twentieth century, part of the halls was opened for inspection even when the Palfievtsy lived in it. Since 1946, many confiscated interior items from other former noble estates, 31 palaces and 2 monasteries of the Western Slovak region began to be collected in the premises of the castle, which formed the basis of the modern museum collection.
