Monument to the Slavin Mountain
Description:
Mount Slavin is a monument erected in honor of Soviet soldiers who died in battles with the Nazis for Bratislava in 1945. The monument was opened in May 1960, and a little later a memorial complex was built here.
The authors of the monument are sculptor A. Trizulyak and architect Jan Svetlik.
The monument is crowned by an almost 40-meter stele with a 10-meter sculpture of a warrior with a banner in his hands. Around the obelisk are bronze statues dedicated to 6845 fallen soldiers. Next to the memorial is the only open military cemetery in Slovakia, where Soviet soldiers are buried.
