Bratislava Old Town
Zelen & aacute 365/2, 81101 Bratislava - Star Mesto
Description:
As its name suggests, there are many historical monuments in the Old Town. However, many Slovak government offices and institutions are also located on its streets: Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Justice, National Council building of the Slovak Republic, Archbishop’s Summer Palace, residence of the President of Slovakia.
The western part of the district is a hilly area (part of the Small Range of the Carpathians), where the Bratislava Castle and the buildings of most foreign embassies are located. Behind the castle, this area ends and begins the quietest area of Bratislava, which is rarely visited by tourists.
The eastern part of the Old Town is the historical and administrative center. Here are located: Trinity Church, Mikhailov Gate, the main railway station (Hlavná Stanica), Slovak National Theatre. The ruins of the medieval city walls of Bratislava have been preserved on this territory, but this landmark is now closed to the public.
