One-day walk around the city of Kranj and the surrounding area
Description:
Live the day in Dejele Kranjska. This is what the region was called in the 10th century. And the city itself was Kreina, and Kranjsburg and Cranj. The city is located on a hill between the two rivers - Savoy and Cocra and from the very first settlement had a very important strategic importance and a beautiful location overlooking the entire outskirts.
Our walk starts in the old part of town and lasts about two hours.
The city is connected by interesting facts, numerous legends and stories of local residents, just a sea of unproven (still) interesting coincidences.
There is a lot dedicated to Franz Prešeren (a famous Slovenian poet), although he lived here for only two years. Touched Crane and hand Plechnik, a famous architect (although it is rumored that there was an unclean story with his students). Why is there a "pig" street in the city, and why do locals have such a love for Lyer's house? This is just a small part of the story of this town.
After a leisurely walk and breakfast, we go to Shmarietna Mountain. From here, it offers views not only of the city district, but also of Triglav (the highest mountain in Slovenia), Krvavec (ski resort), Škofiu Loku (medieval town) and even Ljubljana (capital).
For a cup of coffee you will enjoy these views from a bird's eye view, after which we return to the bus and go to Lake Crnyava. On the way, we can stop at Brdo Park, one of the summer residences of Josef Broz Tito, and today a protocol facility for the meeting of presidents, parliament and the reception of important guests.
Or you can stop for a Slovenian dinner at the family estate of Biziak with its 200-year history and tradition of cooking.
After a walk through Brdo Park and near Lake Crniava with its castle Hrib, we return to Kranj by another road. A small sightseeing tour of the non-tourist routes of the city will show you its other side.
And our evening ends with a very unusual visit to the old tunnel under the city. Once it served as a bomb shelter, and today it is a place of unusual events, wine tastings, military simulations, exhibitions and simply unusual walks underground.
It's important to understand:
The program can be changed at will: we can remove or add any element of the tour. Possibly more participants (a small surcharge for another bus) You can include in the program a beer tasting or a visit to an unusual tea shop. The tunnel under the old Cranem is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 17:00, Saturday at 10:00. On other days, the tour is possible by pre-order. The entrance fee to the Tunnel under the city is not included in the tour and is 5 euros per person.
