Austrian Carinthia and Italian Tarvisio – a circular auto-pedestrian tour from Slovenia

Carinthia is a fabulous land of lakes; we will see the largest lake Werther See from a tower 900 m high, we will walk around the city of Klagenfurt, visiting the State Secular Field and the Church of the Holy Gospa, we will reveal to you the origins of the Slovenian principality of Karantania.

We drive through the Lübel Pass (1369 m) in the Karavank mountain system, between Austria and Slovenia, first to the Slovenian ducal throne, which played a key role in the wedding ceremony of the dukes of Carinthia and, presumably, the rulers of one of the earliest Slavic states - Karantania (6-8 centuries). Nearby is the oldest Slovenian church, Maria Saal, which was the center of Christianization of the Slavs. From afar, welcoming us from the luxurious church complex of the Gothic Cathedral. The tour continues to the main city of Carinthia - Klagenfurt, walk through the historical part. After the walk, there will be free time for shopping. It is necessary to inspect Vertersee and climb to the Pyramidenkogol observation tower, which provides an opportunity to view the panorama of valleys, mountains and lakes from a height of 905 m. By Lake Vertersee we go to the Italian city of Tarviso, where we will order excellent coffee and where there is a popular leather market, where leather jackets will be sold. We will return to Ljubljana on the way past the resort of Kranjska Gora.
